Warrington-based Interior Door Systems (IDS) has announced the successful completion of its management buyout, which has taken effect from June 28, 2024.
IDS was founded in 1996 by outgoing managing director, Andy Russell, who has been at the helm throughout the company’s 28-year history. Russell will step down from day-to-day management to become chairman.
Following a companywide review of the IDS operation, new managing director and son of Andy, Sam Russell, and commercial director Steve Healy, will head the new management structure.
Commenting on his stepping down, Andy Russell said: “I am extremely proud to have been able to create the successful heritage which is now Interior Door Systems. The last 28 years have included some business challenges, including the banking crisis and, of course, Covid. Despite these trading difficulties, IDS has grown – seeing challenges as opportunities.
“Now, we are ready for the next stage in our growth, and I recognise the enormous potential that Sam and Steve’s vision presents for the future of the business. As a result, I’m delighted to support the management buyout, and I look forward to seeing the business take advantage of the exciting growth opportunities. Needless to say, I am pleased the family legacy of IDS will remain with my son, Sam, who is now taking the mantle from me.”

A statement from IDS also said that the MBO management team, supported by its experienced operations team, will be “exploring new opportunities and markets and forging strategic partnerships with like-minded companies in the sector.”
